Love
Love is a feeling that we cannot avoid. As a human, we can understand the meaning of love between human, one's self or animals. We can also show our feeling of love but in a proper ways.
The first type of love that Islam calls for is the Love of Allah, praise be to him. This love avoid us from commiting sins in order to purify our heart from not knowing Him, to be a righteous person. This love is permanent and has to be sincere.
Secondly, we can express our love toward our parents. They are the person who educate, raise and love us since we were childhood. So, why not we reciprocate the love they provide with respect and listen to them all the time.
The last one is love between human. It is not wrong for us to love someone but there should be limits. For instance, we can love our friends as much as we love our family. They are the only person that can understand us and easy to be consulted.
Last but not least, love can be nurtured and cared as long as we know all the limitations. For those who misinterpretation the meaning of love will drift in their own world.
If Only I Listen
If only I listen that my mom said to me, this kinds of things will not happen!
It was Friday morning. I got up bright and breeze prepared to enjoy a stress-free long weekend in Langkawi with my cousin. During breakfast, my brother in Kuala Lumpur called. I had couriered him three stamp albums as requested. He must have called up to thank and offer me some pocket money for my Langkawi trip. The minute I said, "Hello, you do not have to thank...." he blasted away. " are you trying to sabotage me? you know how important the albums are to me. I specifically asked for the albums marked'I' for International instead you sent the 'In' the album of Indian stamps. I can not complete my project today and it is your fault. Do it now and this time get it right!" He put down the phone leaving me gaping at the phone.
Devastated, I decided to do something helpful for mom. At least she would be more grateful. I collected all my soiled clothes and dumped them into the washing machine. Mom saw and shouted, "You cannot wash your clothes without check the pocket first. What if there is a important thing in the pocket. I do not want to responsible on that." I was in a bad mood, and my mother started to be bossy. That was not right! I just left her and continued my work.
Then, I looked for my passport to assure myself that I had received the US visa. I was due to go on a three month exchange programme next month. Where is my passport? I looked high and low and all the likely places. But I could not find it. I sat down to retrace and recollect I had it in my pocket two days back. My Levis jeans were hanging....... " Oh no, they are in machine!" I just put them there to be washed. Waiting for the wash to be completed was an agony. I pulled out my jeans and the passport looked complete wreck!
Thunderstruck, I sat very still to keep from going hysterical. I consoled myself that there was still time for me to apply new passport and visa. Wondering why such things could happen to me, I remembered what was my mother just said. Every word that come from our mother will be fulfilled. Regret! that was my feeling.
I went to her room and said "I am really sorry". She just nodded and hugged me.
An Embarasing Moment In My Life
When I was in primary school, I had done something that really shameful. I was not good in Science. Every time during Science class, I would not pay any attention and sleep at the back of the class. The teacher also did not like me because I failed in Science subject whenever there were examination. My parents scolded and warned me to pass the Science paper for final exams. So I took that as a challenge.
One day, I wanted to proof to my parents that I could pass for the exams. I studied hard until burned the midnight oil. Unfortunately, I woke up late and the school bus left me. I had to walk to school and it took for 20 minutes to arrive. The students entered the class and started theirs examinations. As I reached my class, everyone was staring at me. I felt the shame of being late and my teacher told me to sit down and began the examinations.
I felt really tired because I ran all the ways. suddenly, I fell asleep and did not answer my Science paper. When I woke up, there was almost 9.20 a.m! I had only ten minutes to answered all the questions. I could not remembered anything that I had read last night. In panic, I tore my exam paper and shouted loudly. The students and teacher shocked with my behaviour and thought that I was hysteria.
They rushedly came towards me and tried to calm me down. Then, the teacher asked me why I was being like that. I said that I could not answer the papers as I was fell asleep.
Everyone laughed at me except my teacher. She was so angry. Luckily, she gave me one chance and warned me not to do so again. Once and a while, I still felt that some of the students were looking at me as I was an alien with their cynical smile. They really made me feel embarrassed that day. From that day, I promised to myself not to wake up late again. A proverb saying “ Once bite, twice shy.”
my family
Family is someone who has a relationship and consanguine with us. My family consists of six people who is my parents and siblings. We live in a same house and keep on eye for each other. I am the youngest in my family so I am the one who my parents need to support.
My father is almost a six-footer when he joined the army. Now,a little bent from age, he still walks like a soldier. He marches rather than walks. Previously, my father worked as a skydiver. So he will return home once in a blue moon. I am in a bad blood about his work but as a daughter, I try to understand because he need to work to assure his own family. My father looks stern but the sparkle in his eyes belies this for as the saying goes,'his bark is worse than his bite'. We have seen his softer side especially when we were down with all the childhood illnesses. He never laid a hand on us because he does not believe in corporal punishment. He was and still my disciplinarian and guru who paved the way for my path through life.
My mother is just like my friend. When I am in a hot water, she is the only person who will faithfully listen to my problems. She will gives me some advice s and try to comfort me. She is very generous, sometimes to a fault. She put the needs of the family above her own. One of the numerous ways she express her devotion to us is through her cooking. She is skill and ingenuous cook, often improvising ingredients and I am sure she must added that spoonful of love in all her dishes. My mother is courageous person as she works really hard in day and night. Honestly, I am really worried about her healthy but I have to respect her difficulty for raising her childrens with her own efforts.
As I live alone without my sisters, I have to survive with my own. They are further their studies in this year. My sisters is really cheerful person. They always make me smile and know how to make jokes. They are also a lovely person as they respect me although I am their youngest sister. Same as my brother, he is the only brother I have. He is a responsible person. He will look after my mother when my father is going for outstation. He is a good son and my mother depends on him so much.
I am really grateful with the family that I have now. No one can replace them.I will bear in my mind what my father said that manners defines you and your family.
